Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Certificate Program

Are you interested in archaeology but don't know how to get started? The Center for Archaeological Sciences offers an interdisciplinary certificate in the archaeological sciences for undergraduate students currently enrolled at the University of Georgia who have maintained a GPA of at least 3.0. Students working toward the certificate take courses on scientific methods in archaeology on cultures known from archaeological excavations. They also earn credit for field and laboratory experiences. Courses included in the certificate program are offered by Anthropology, Art History, Classics, Geography, and Geology. Costa Rican Volcano

The Fall Semester Archaeology Seminar will feature speaker Dr. Payson Sheets (University of Colorado, Boulder). Dr. Sheets has worked on sites in Costa Rica and El Salvador. The title for his presentation is "Social Memory in an Explosive Volcanic Environment: The Arenal Area of Costa Rica."

The lecture is recommended for those interested in anthropology, archaeology, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and cross-cultural studies. This is a blue card event. Refreshments will be provided.
